Call for papers: kick-off webinar of the group “Housing and New Technologies” – European Network for Housing Research

The kick-off webinar of the working group “Housing and New Technologies of the European Network for Housing Research will take place on 20th January 2021. This virtual seminar, coordinated by Prof. Michel Vols (University of Groningen) and by Dr. Rosa M. Garcia-Teruel (UNESCO Housing Chair, URV), will cover the following topics related to housing and new technologies: real estate crowdfunding, blockchain, big data, data protection and smart homes, IoT, AI and ML techniques, 3d printing, etc. Those researchers interested in presenting their papers may submit an abstract before the 20th November by sending an email to rosamaria.garciat@urv.cat.

Participation in a Conference on housing cooperatives

Dr. Héctor Simón has taken part in the Round Table of the “VII Conference on Cooperativism and Solidarity Economy. The housing cooperative on assigment of use”, organized by the Faculty of Legal Sciences of University Rovira i Virgili, URV Emprèn and Coopcamp, which was held on 12 November 2020. Dr. Simón explained the pros and cons of housing cooperatives on assigment of use and whether they could be an alternative to home ownership and tenancy.

Seminar “Digital ID in Blockchain”

Recently, Dr. Rosa M. Garcia Teruel, postdoctoral researcher at the UNESCO Housing Chair, jointly with 3 students, created the students’ group “Legal Hackers URV”, dedicated to the study of the intersenction of Law and New Technologies, following the groups that emerged in the US (legalhackers.org) to promote debates on the legal and ethical aspects of new technologies.

Next Wednesday, November 4 at 6:00 p.m. they organize the seminar “The Digital Identity in Blockchain”, inviting Dr. Nacho Alamillo, PhD in Law, lawyer, general director of Astrea, and a member of the European Network and Information Security Steering Group of the European Union.

Lecture at the LLM International & Comparative Business Law, National University of Ireland

Dr. Héctor Simón has delivered the lecture “Property in Civil Law and Common Law”, for the third consecutive year, at the LLM International & Comparative Business Law of the National University of Ireland, Galway. This Master has been considered as the Postgraduate Course of the Year in Law in Ireland in 2019.
