Presentation of paper at the ENHR Conference

Last Tuesday, August 31, Dr. Héctor Simón Moreno participated in the ENHR international conference “Unsettled settlements: housing in unstable contexts”. Dr. Simón presented the paper “The” Spain 2050 “long-term national initiative and the first Spanish housing law: a step in the right direction towards a sustainable territorial modelo?” in the “Southern European Housing” Working Group.

Last Tuesday, August 31, Dr. Gemma Caballé Fabra participated virtually in the ENHR international congress, which had to be held in Niosia (Cyprus), at the “Housing Law” Workshop to explain some of the conclusions of her doctoral thesis published this year to discuss them with the rest of the participants. Specifically, the title of her presentation was “The real estate agent profession in Europe”.

From August 30 to September 2, the largest international congress of researchers on housing takes place: the ENHR – European Network for Housing Research congress. This time it will be virtual from Nicosia. All the information about it at https://cyprusconferences.org/enhr2021/. It will have a large representation of interventions by researchers from the Unesco Housing Chair of the URV.

Urban October 2020

The UNESCO Housing Chair URV has contributed to the Urban October 2020 report edited by UN Habitat international. The referred report includes the main events presented in the framework of the celebration of World Cities Day in which 753 events were presented in more than 74 countries and 230 cities. Specifically, the report of the webinar organized by the Chair entitled “Collaborative Housing” detailing the events and the contributions of experts and researchers of collaborative Housing. On the occasion of the recent approval of Law 8/2021, of 2nd June, on support for the exercise of the capacity of people with disabilities, on 8th July at 11 a.m., the researcher of the team Andrés Labella will participate in a webinar organised by the third sector organisation DINCAT, whose objective is the defence of the rights of people with intellectual disabilities, with the aim of putting into context the multiple aspects involved in the new model of disability, which ends up with the classic legal procedures of incapacitation, in order to move towards a new model of support based on respect for human rights and the will, wishes and preferences of people with disabilities on an equal opportunities with others.

Participation in international seminar – EVICT European Project

Dr. Héctor Simón was invited on June 21, 2021 to participate in an international seminar within the framework of the European EVICT Project (https://www.eviction.eu), which analyzes how the right to housing prevent people from being evicted. His presentation focused on “The potential impact of human and fundamental rights in eviction procedure and the right to property: what are the limits?”. A lively discussion with the audience followed his presentation.
