Publication

Dra. Maridalia Rodríguez-Padilla in co-authorship with the real estate law specialist Denisse Härtling, member of theObservatorio Judicial Dominicano (OJD-Funglode), have published in number 19 of the “Saber y Justicia Magazine” of the National School of the Judiciary of the Dominican Republic (ENJ), the article entitled “Ley de alquileres y desahucios: propuestas legales para un parque de vivienda en equilibrio”. In this article the authors reflect and analyse the most relevant points of the current project General Law on Real Estate Rentals and Evictions, which is reviewed by the National Congress of the Dominican Republic. Several recommendations are provided in order to achieve an efficient regulation of the housing rental market and be able to increase the supply of adequate housing. Doctoral scholarship in the field of housing law and new technologies

Would you like to become a PhD student in the field of law and new technologies? The Housing Research Group of the Rovira i Virgili University offers the doctoral scholarship “housing and blockchain” within the Martí i Franquès Programme. The selected student will start his/her PhD on the applications of blockchain technology, smart contracts and tokenisation in housing management and transactions (acquisition of housing, tenancy contracts, mortgage loans, management of communities and cooperatives, etc. ). Webinar

On the occasion of the recent approval of Law 8/2021, of 2nd June, on support for the exercise of the capacity of people with disabilities, on 8th July at 11 a.m., the researcher of the team Andrés Labella will participate in a webinar organised by the third sector organisation DINCAT, whose objective is the defence of the rights of people with intellectual disabilities, with the aim of putting into context the multiple aspects involved in the new model of disability, which ends up with the classic legal procedures of incapacitation, in order to move towards a new model of support based on respect for human rights and the will, wishes and preferences of people with disabilities on an equal opportunities with others.

Prof. Dr. Sergio Nasarre Aznar was invited to give a session on July 1 in the Real Estate Law course at the School of Legal Practice of the Complutense University, where he conversed in a mixed way with the students about the housing crisis in the last fifteen years.

Participation in international seminar – EVICT European Project

Dr. Héctor Simón was invited on June 21, 2021 to participate in an international seminar within the framework of the European EVICT Project (https://www.eviction.eu), which analyzes how the right to housing prevent people from being evicted. His presentation focused on “The potential impact of human and fundamental rights in eviction procedure and the right to property: what are the limits?”. A lively discussion with the audience followed his presentation.
