The land registrar D. Víctor Prado delivered a lecture in the subject “Property Rights” of the Law Degree of the Faculty of Legal Sciences of University Rovira i Virgili on 21 May 2019. The students were asked to analyse a mortgage loan deed applying the Spanish mortgage law and the rules governing the Spanish land registry.
On May 10th, the UNESCO Housing Chair of URV brought together more than fifty people around the topic “Conflict resolution and housing”, which addressed issues such as the use of mediation in leases proceedings, conciliation by property registrars, OFIDEUTE programs or conflict resolution programs of various institutions such as the Board of Property Managers or Sogeviso (Banc Sabadell company). The day was inaugurated by Mg. Rector of the URV, Dr. Maria José Figueras, and the closing session was given by Mr. Xavier Bernadí, general director of Law and Legal Entities of the Catalan government.

Dr. Héctor Simón attended the seminar on “Promoting the Right to Housing at the EU Level: Challenges and Policy Proposals”, organized by the Barcelona Center for International Affairs (CIDOB), in which the “Municipalist Declaration of Local Governments for the Right to Housing and the Right to the City” was discussed. This Declaration calls for a more relevant role of cities and municipalities to guarantee the right to housing and the right to the city.

Predoctoral seminar today with PhD candidates at the Unesco Housing Chair where they presented their progress on housing research
Dr. Héctor Simón attended on Wednesday 13th of February the Workshop “The home is the key”, which took place at the Picasso Museum in Barcelona. The Workshop revolve around the last report of Càritas Diocesana de Barcelona on residential exclusion. Dr. Padraic Kenna, Lecturer at the National University of Ireland, took part as keynote speaker, and several experts, such as Javier Burón, Housing Manager of the City Council of Barcelona, Guillem Fernández, economist and Phd in public policies, Joan Batlle, Director of social programs of the Catalan Housing Agency, and Pablo Feu, lawyer expert in urban and housing law, took part in a round table on the “Housing as the new pillar of the Welfare State.”
