Reus Municipal Housing Council
The UNESCO Housing Chair URV participates in the Municipal Housing Council of the Reus City Council, the body for citizen participation that aims to debate municipal housing policies. Dr. Gemma Caballé participated in the session that took place on November 28, 2024.
Count of homeless people in Tarragona
The UNESCO Housing Chair actively participates in the count of homeless people in Tarragona, which has taken place on the night of Wednesday, November 27th. This is the fifth time that the initiative has been carried out, which until now took place every two years and which from now on will be annual.

Dr. Sergio Nasarre receives the distinction of Distinguished Professor of the URV
Dr. Sergio Nasarre receives the distinction of Distinguished Professor of the URV in recognition of his services to the University
The Professor of Civil Law and founder of the UNESO Chair of Housing, Dr. Nasarre, has obtained this recognition for his remarkable academic, teaching and research career at the URV.
On November 8, the Universitat Rovira i Virgili recognized the teaching and research staff and the technical, management and administrative and service staff who, with their dedication and contribution, have contributed to the progress of the institution. Among the awardees, Dr. Nasarre has been recognized with the distinction of Distinguished Professor, an honor that aims to demonstrate excellence, dedication and leadership in the fields of teaching, research and academic service.
The creation and direction for 8 years of the UNESCO Housing Chair; an ICREA Acadèmia awarded by the Catalan Institution for Research and Advanced Studies (ICREA); participation in more than 50 competitive research projects, leading 17 of them; the collection of more than €150,000 in financial resources; as well as the research excellence embodied in the publication of 5 books and 115 scientific papers; or his contribution to the projection of the URV with almost 800 media impacts in 8 years; these are just some of the elements that have led Professor Sergio Nasarre to obtain this recognition.
Dr. Héctor Simon, current director of the UNESCO Housing Chair, assures that this recognition will have a very significant impact both for Dr. Nasarre himself and for the Chair. “This award for the founder of the Chair is a well-deserved individual recognition of his career. Thanks to his dedication and leadership, the Chair is a center of excellence in our field recognized by UNESCO. It is an honor for us that he continues to be involved in the structure and ordinary activities of the Chair”.
