Last February 6, the researcher of the Housing Chair Gemma Caballé Fabra achieved the international PhD, with an Excellent Cum Laude, with the defense of her doctoral thesis “La intermediación inmobiliaria ante los nuevos retos de la vivienda” (Real estate brokerage in the face of new housing challenges). Dr. Carlos Lasarte, Dr. Pedro Antonio Munar and Dr. Christoph Schmid were the members of the Examination Board.

The project aims to trace the patterns of legal reasoning inspiring decisions that go on to become cornerstones of jurisprudence, and that may even lead to legislative changes. we will also seek to quantify the desired and undesired consequences of such decisions, and we commit to transfer our results to policymakers and judicial bodies.

On January 23, Ms. Emma López gave a conference on Mediation at the Colegio de Administradores de Fincas of Tarragona.
Prof. Dr. Sergio Nasarre and Dr. Núria Lambea were invited as speakers to the commemorative event of the 20th anniversary of Alokabide and 30th anniversary of Visesa, on January 30th in Bilbao. They talked about “La encrucijada de la vivienda tras catorce años de crisis (The housing crossroads after fourteen years of crisis)” and “Un modelo de gestión de vivienda social en clave europea (A model of social housing management in a European key)” respectively in the commemorative event of the 20th anniversary of Alokabide and 30th anniversary of Visesa, on January 30th in Bilbao.

Next Wednesday February 5, we are organizing the 8th International Workshop, in which Prof. Dr. Christoph U. Schmid, full professor of Civil Law at the University of Bremen (Germany) will talk about “Alleviating Housing Shortage and Intensification through Rent Freeze and Rent Caps?
