In a world filled with conflict it is increasingly necessary to find ways to achieve a certain degree of peaceful coexistence. Interpersonal relations are, often, complicated and for this reason specialist professionals are required to bring together positions, to help different sides to understand the other’s point of view and to act as mediation experts.
To become such an expert it is necessary to develop a body of knowledge and skills. Thus, it is important to know the range of mediation and its legal and operational limits. It is also necessary for the mediator to understand the phenomenon of communication and its techniques. Finally, one must also possess knowledge of the subject of the mediation.
For these reasons the programme which we present well reflects these necessities and all from the perspective of theoretical-practical sessions which are well thought-out and balanced. Furthermore we wish to demonstrate how mediation is developing in areas as different as school mediation, mortgage mediation, penal mediation, family and business mediation.
This is evidenced by the progressive and incessant endorsement of rules making mediation an adequate and viable system for conflict resolution. Not only do we have two framework laws, one Catalonian and another at State level, which describe mediation, but also Sectorial laws such as the Family Code, the Consumer Code and the Law of Urban Leases, which invite those parties in conflict to mediate on their differences.
We are very happy in that this has been one of the first educational programmes to be endorsed by the Mediation Centre of Catalonia. Also, we are delighted to count on the partnership of the prestigious office of mediators TARC, whose headquarters are in Barcelona.
You are making an investment in the future, which will develop you as good professionals and which will enable you to be able to help rigorously, with resources and knowledge.
